National Library Lovers Month

Start them young! February 1 is Take Your Child to the Library Day. Share your love of libraries with the children in your life and check out a book to read together. Stop in and fill in a heart to say what you love about the library. While you’re here, take out a book from our ‘Blind Date with a Book’ selection and take a chance on our Library Love Raffle Basket.

We did it! 
Thank you for helping us reach our Pot Pie goal! Because of our outstanding patrons and overall community, we hit our $3,000 Pot Pie Palooza goal!  What a delicious way to support our library!

Kindergarten Practice: Monday, February 3, 10, 17 @ 1 PM

Prepare for Kindergarten in this hour-long program with stories, movement activities, and activity stations for caregiver and child. Pre-registration and adult caregiver participation are required.
Reminder: Winter hours have started! Clymer Library will be closing at 2pm on Saturdays.

After School STEM: Monday, February 3, 10, 17 @ 3:35 PM

Clymer Library is starting a weekly afterschool STEM program for children ages 5-12. This 45 minute program offers children a simple hands-on exploration of topics in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Space is limited—pre-registration is required.

Friend’s First Friday Film Festival: McCabe and Mrs. Miller—Fri 2/7 @ 1 PM
Charismatic John McCabe (Warren Beatty) arrives in a mining community and decides to open a brothel. Townsfolk are impressed with his fast talk but local prostitute Constance Miller (Julie Christie) sees thru McCabe’s words and realizes he isn't as sharp as he says he is and agrees to help him plan and run the brothel for a share in the profits. 

Evening Book Club—Tue 2/18 @ 6:30 PM
February’s book is Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi. Call the library or email Melissa at mlopez@clymerlibray.org to sign up. 

Happy Bookers Book Club—Mon 2/24 @ 1 PM
This month we will read All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque. For more information, contact Melissa at (570)-646-0826.

Kindergarten Practice—Mon 2/3, 10, 17 @ 1 PM
Clymer Library seeks to foster Kindergarten readiness skills by offering a once-weekly Kindergarten Practice program for children ages 3 to 6 years starting Monday, February 3, at 1 PM. The hour-long program begins with an adult-free story session followed by interactive learning activities centered on a literacy skill. Your child must be able to separate from adult caregivers and follow directions. Pre-registration at 570-646-0826 is required. Space is limited. 

After-school STEM—Mon 2/3, 10, 17 @ 3:45 PM

LEGO® STEM—Tue 2/4 @ 4:30 PM
Kids, have fun exercising your imagination! LEGO® bricks provided. Adult caregiver attendance required for children under 10. Drop-in program. Ages 4-11.

Book Babies—Thu 2/6, 13, 20, 27 @ 10:30 AM
Miss Love invites caregivers, infants, and toddlers to join her for a half hour of songs, stories, rhymes, and felt board activities. Adult caregiver participation is required. Ages 0-6.

Tiny Explorers STEM—Thu 2/6, 13, 20, 27 @ 11:15 AM
Join Miss Love every Thursday for an hour-long
STEM-based program that encourages self-directed sensory play for toddlers and preschoolers. Play for a few minutes or the whole hour. Pre-registration and adult caregiver participation are required.

Crazy 8’s Math Club—Wed 2/12, 19, 26 @ 3:45 PM
Crazy 8’s Math Club is restarting for children ages 5-8 (grades K-2). Space is limited so pre-registration is a must.

Family (all ages):

STEM: Tinker Workshop—Sat 2/1, 15 @ 11 AM
Drop-in to Clymer Library’s children’s area to preview some of the resources provided through the Tinker Grant program.

Family Crafters—Tue 2/11 @ 6 PM
Bring the entire family to Clymer Library to create a craft! Adult supervision required.

Play-dough Gym—Tue 2/18 @ 3:30 PM
Play dough is a great tool to build and develop strength and control in the hands, fingers, and wrists. This strength and control supports the use of writing tools, scissors, and the ability to throw and catch objects. Drop in program-children under 10 need adult supervision.

Family Movie—Tue 2/25 @ 5:30 PM
Enjoy a movie outing with your child! Bring a drink; we’ll provide the popcorn. All movies have a PG rating. Adult caregiver supervision required for children under 10.

Teens:

T.A.B. Meeting—Tue 2/18 @ 6:30 PM
TAB got a makeover! Join the newly formed Teen Action  Board (formerly Teen Advisory Board) and make a difference in your library community. Earn volunteer credits, work on leadership skills, communication, problem solving, and creative expression. TAB is open to students in grades 7-12. Just come to the meeting to join.

Become a member of Friends of Clymer Library for as little as $10 and help support and enhance library services for the community. To date, we have contributed over $15,000 for the purchase of new books and equipment. Membership forms are available in the library.

Friends of Clymer is Accepting Donations!
Books, CDs, and DVDs are now being accepted. To donate a box of books you must call ahead to arrange a drop off (570-646-1164). We cannot accept damaged, soiled, or moldy books. No medical and health related books can be legally accepted if the publication date is before 2010.
