Stroudsburg, PA – Pocono Alliance is partnering with the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) to offer a free series of financial literacy workshops in Monroe County. This is the first time that PHFA has offered a program of this kind in the county.
The eight session workshop series is called “Building Your Financial House” and has seven core concepts adapted from the Department of Treasury’s Financial Literacy and Education Commission’s core competencies of earning/income, spending, saving and investing, as well as borrowing and protecting. Participants will work through the modules using a case study that will apply their learning into real world situations. These modules will provide participants with the ‘tools’ to ‘construct’ their financial ‘house’.
“We are so excited to offer the first program of this kind in Monroe County through PHFA. We feel these workshops will benefit our community as they will cover many financial topics and issues that our residents face,” Said Misozi Houston, Staying Ahead Coordinator with the Bridges Out of Poverty Program.
The monthly workshops will be held at the Eastern Monroe Public Library beginning September 11, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
Participants are encouraged to register by August 31, 2018 as seating is limited. This series is free and open to the public. For more information or to register, please contact: Misozi Houston, Staying Ahead Coordinator at Pocono Alliance at (570) 517-3956.
