We’re hiring office assistants! Duties include answering and routing incoming calls on a multi-line telephone system, maintaining and scheduling multiple calendars, accepting permits and fees, and assisting all departments in various capacities. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and confidentiality are critical. Additional duties include working with various computer software programs to ensure data management and retention. This is a full-time position with benefits; salary $14-16/hr, DOQ.

This position includes secretarial/data entry work. Duties involve public contact, reports, scheduling, and other clerical functions, including assistance to all departments as needed.

Work is supervised by an administrative superior. Assignments are varied in nature and are carried out in accordance with established instructions, precedents, practices, and procedures.


Assists Township Manager in day-to-day functions.

Answers the telephone and greets visitors; provides responses if information is known or refers the question to an appropriate official.

Explains different permit requirements to visitors.

Inputs current and back file documents into Laserfiche.

Processes correspondence and documents.

Schedules use of Township facilities; maintains the calendar.

Maintains and files Board of Supervisors’ minute books, when necessary.

Maintains manual and automated alphabetic and numerical files for the Zoning Department.

Duplicates and distributes printed material, operates standard office equipment.

Order office supplies using set Township purchasing procedure, when necessary.

Performs related work as required.


Thorough knowledge of, and ability to use, standard office equipment including computers and their software.

Thorough knowledge of modern office principles and practices.

Thorough knowledge of business English usage, grammar, and punctuation.

Considerable knowledge of, and ability to perform, standard mathematical computations.

Skill in setting up, entering, and processing materials at an acceptable rate of speed using computer software.

Skill in planning and organizing work.

Ability to expeditiously learn and apply office operating policies and procedures.

Ability to communicate well, orally and in writing.

Ability to maintain automated and manual files and to prepare reports using these files.

Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.

Two years of progressively responsible varied clerical and secretarial experience, preferably including one year with a public employer.

Any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience.
